Paediatric Postnatal Problems 3.4

This application has been developed by a team of experienced paediatricians and neonatologists with the aim of supporting healthcare professionals in managing common paediatric issues encountered on the postnatal ward.

For practitioners beginning their paediatrics rotation, particularly those unfamiliar with the range of conditions typical in this setting, the transition can be challenging. Prior training and adult medicine experience often fall short of preparing clinicians for neonatal presentations, which require different approaches and management strategies. Additionally, the scarcity of consolidated resources means that on-the-job learning remains dominant, potentially prolonging the learning curve.

This application seeks to mitigate these challenges by integrating three core resources into a single platform. The digital e-book provides evidence-based, practical guidance on a variety of conditions and examination findings, drawing on comprehensive literature reviews and seasoned clinical expertise. Each topic concludes with links for further reading, facilitating deeper exploration.

The audiovisual section offers instructional videos and audio presentations led by seasoned neonatologists, covering critical procedures such as neonatal examinations, jaundice assessment, and management of hypoglycaemia.

In addition, the calculators section features tools designed to aid in calculating infant feeding requirements, phototherapy needs (compatible with μmol/L or mg/dL measurements), Apgar scores, and other vital parameters.
